Is there an ASTM or AWS spec for proper dye testing of 12 ga stainless sheet fusion welds?  We're field assembling a continuous water tight gutter trough for a swimming pool.
I don't have any AWS codes other than 1.1.  I believe 1.6 is for stainless.  Thanks.

RE: Stainless NDT spec

I believe that ASTM E165-02 will cover your requirements.

RE: Stainless NDT spec

ASTM 165 will explain penetrant inspection well enough to allow you to perform the inspection you are doing.  I will suggest an additional technique typically used in these cases: if possible, apply the penetrant on one side and look for bleed out on the other.  Bleed out indicates areas that will leak.

Found it.  Thanks for the tip.  Just what I was thinking.
