Minimum number of workers

Minimum number of workers

Minimum number of workers

Working within basic oil refinery I was wonder what is minimum number of workers for distilation, de-paraffination, whitening of oil and paraffines, shaping of oils and paraffines. Can somebody advice the necessary literature, standards etc...
Thank you

RE: Minimum number of workers

This will be highly dependent on:

1) Level of automation in the plants/refinery,
2) Physical distances between various units,
3) Emergency response situations/requirements
4) Social politics (no layoff of workers - it does appear as a significant factor in some government-owned plants)
5) Operating costs

Refer also to the Chapter 11 of the "IFP Petroleum Refining Vol. 5, Refinery Operation and Management". The book is also available on Google at:

RE: Minimum number of workers

By searching for API RP 755 related subjects, I came across this interesting document: "Staffing Levels - A Key to Managing Risk in 24/7 Operations". I think it is worth reading: http://www.frms.co.nz/_literature_173665/Staffing_...
