I'm having some difficult understanding some basic concepts. When I solve and get the results from member forces of M1, the axial is around 11 kips in tension, and shear is around 0.5 k. If I want the total vertical shear y force due to M1, do I need to hand calc and resolve 11 kips into a y-component and add it to 0.5 k?

I forgot to mention that I'm trying to find the axial and shear at N1 due to M1. Sorry.

Both the axial and shear values of M1 will be reported in the Member Forces results relative to the member's local axes (x, y and z).

If you need these in global results then you would take the local x, y and z results and calculate the global values based on X, Y, and Z based on the angle of M1 to the global horizontal.
