Say nodes 2 and 4 of the attached model were to be bolted to a concrete wall. What would the tension force be that the bolts would have to resist? A fellow student and I are having a little trouble understanding the modeling and how to determine the appropriate tension based on the results.

1) The Z direction joint reactions for N2 and N4. Note: I used capital Z, meaning that it corresponds to the GLOBAL Z direction of the model.
2) Look at the axial force at the end of members M1 and M2.
To test your understanding, make sure that these two results are equal. In your case, this joint is actually in compression at those locations.
