What is the formula to calcuate the efficiency of a centrifugal pump? David

There are a couple of ways. The power used by a pump is

BHp = Q*P/(1714*e) Q is the flow rate, gpm. P is the differential pressure, psi, e is the pump's efficiency as a decimal and BHp is the shaft Hp used by the pump, Hp. If you can measure those variables, you can calculate the efficiency.

Another option is to measure the temperature rise across the pump. Works best with high head pumps, see thread403-22185.
