Dear Sirs,

What are type of HDPE pipes supports?(Clamp with rubber or ...???)
Is there any guide book for HDPE pipe supporting?
I want to know all things about HDPE supporting such as pipe span, location of supports and standard drawing of HDPE supports.

Google Agru, Iplex Pipelines and/or Vinidex in Australia and download their manuals. Also go to AWWA or Standards Australia and purchase their standards.

Supporting HDPE on supports is like support a "wet noodle"! Normally I just buried it or just laid it on grade (the Black HDPE not the Orange). The one time I retro-fitted some in an existing pipeway we ran structural steel (C6) in the rack and banded the HDPE to it.

The best way to support HDPE pipe is to put it inside a steel pipe.

What would you be doing, if you knew that you could not fail?

BigInch ...I don't think you can you that. HDPE stands up pretty well to extreme cold but I know for a fact it doesn't do well with temp.s over 200 F! Welding the steel "carrier" pipe would cook the HDPE as it lay on the inside surface.

Not only can polyethylene pipe be encased with steel pipe or casing, but it is even REQUIRED to be by some codes for some services for ANY such aboveground pipe in that service (while I agree it is probably not the best idea to weld steel pipe with the plastic inside it, I guess there are other ways to join steel pipe and/or accomplish effective encasement).

Best support for PE pipe is soil.

If you must use it above gorund then minimu 120 degree supports spaced to suit temperature conditions. Major difficulty is thermal expansion being some 20 times that of steel. When the pipe moves it can lock up onsupports and the pipe will be damaged. pipe will not remain circular even at moderate temperatures (30C plus). All this depends upon the standard ration OD/wall thickness (SDR).

Designing in PE is often more difficult than for steel.

I probably wouldn't weld a steel casing for a PE pipe; just a couple wraps of duct tape. :)

"Support" (IMO) means above the ground, unless stated otherwise.

Have a look at the Georg Fischer catalog, available on the web.

BigInch ...That the high temp silver duct tape or some exotic?? ;)

No. Just the plain white wrapper stuff.
Actually i think it's called "duck tape"
