Hard Drive RPM Control?

(OP)
Trying to create a feedback system to read the hard drive RPM and then set the RPM to a specified value.

Any ideas on how to set the rpm of the drive?

Nope, trying to create a feedback system demo.

RE: Hard Drive RPM Control?

Feedback system demo for what?  A hard drive system is not something anyone needs to work with at that level unless they're working on, well, hard drives...

IRStuff - you're right but my question is how does one control the servo? I'm having a difficult time figuring that out.

RE: Hard Drive RPM Control?

Are you talking about trying to control the servo on an off-the-shelf HD?  If so, then you're basically SOL, unless you know someone from the manufacturer.  Even then, it's probably unlikely that the is a servo command, since there's generally no reason to change the speed.

RE: Hard Drive RPM Control?

there are programs available to modify the hard drive speed from some of the drive manufacturers under windows and there is SMART that gives info back.
