Sony SRX-611 Luna to controller with laptop only

(OP)
Hi All I have a question? I am a new Sony SRX 611 user that is tring to get the robot system up using a loptop with Luna only. I have jumpered the safty pins 1-2 and 3-4 as well as the 9-13. Now I am tring to get my laptop comunicating with the controller. I have set the serial port and luna did not error but now I am stuck tring to figure out why I keep getting a RS232C DSR time out error. It say to check the following: Cable disconnection, controller power, serial port setting. Power is good. Serial port setting is set to port one and device manager is saying it is good. cable connection is in the front with a nul DB9 connector. line 2-3 swaped. Any ideas?

Thanks,

RE: Sony SRX-611 Luna to controller with laptop only

Assuming both devices are setup and functioning correctly and that the two devices connect, this sounds like a handshake issue. Verify the handshake options for the ports are correct. If the cable is not wired for full hardware handshaking, and the port is set for hardware handshake, this may be the cause of a timeout. If the system allows try XON/XOFF handshake option. This usually will work when the cable is not wired for hardware handshaking.
