Hello All,

As a rule of thumb, we don't cold work in the short transverse of AL 7000 Series. (especially CW type I).

Anyone aware of any testing or papers that would refute or support this idea.

Appreciate your help

I run in this limit more often with respect to bushings. As a rule at at my current employer we don't bush holes in the S-T grain below 1.2 e/D. 7075-T6 is worse than 7249. The real driver behing a limit is the SCC threshold per ASTM G47. This allowable is 5ksi for 7075-T6511 is the S-T grain. Based on you interfercence fit, you should be able to calculate a hoop tension stress induced. This is more easily done for bushings than coldworking. I suggest you contact FTI to see if they tell you this residual stress based on what tool you're using for you coldworking operation.
