I am designing a 30” gas pipeline extension. The extension will require placement by HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling)

I am looking for the industry standard software to analyize the internal pressure stress, external soil pressure stress, the stress from pipe deflection or radius through the HDD, etc

Is the COADE, Inc.: CAESAR II software a useful tool for this instance?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
Kent

CAESAR II can analyze (gas) piping systems according to B31.8. This would include loads due to temperature, internal pressures, and deflections. External soil pressures are not included.

(Pipe system flexibility analysis is performed using a 3D Beam element, where the cross section is assumed to remain intact.)
