PERMEABILITY OF PIPELINE COATINGS TO CO2
PERMEABILITY OF PIPELINE COATINGS TO CO2
(OP)
Hello,
i am looking for articles / papers on “Permeability of Pipeline Coatings to Carbon Dioxide and its measurement approaches” and was wondering if someone on this forum be able to help me. Or, alternatively guide me to a forum from where i can obtain this information.
Thanks

Assume you are talking of internal pipe coatings - have you tried any of the coating manufacturers or coating application companies?

I often use the following web source to obtain information on coatings (liners) and their permeability, chemical resistance and mechanical properties:

Then, look for their "forum" section. Good luck.

For the sake of high pressure carbon dioxide transport in pipelines (which is nowadays related to the global reduction of carbon dioxide emission) and related equipment, current steel infrastructure may be "recycled". In this case, it would be appropriate to apply an internal carbon dioxide lining, for the sake of prevention of gas loss through small holes, weak joints and welds, etc.
Although carbon dioxide permeability is of course of importance, carbon dioxide solubility is very probably even more important. Since, at a pressure of 20 bar, a high performance epoxy lining, already swells 1 volume %. Hence, in case of a sudden change of processing conditions, the possible collapse of such a liner / coating should - at least - be considered and assessed...

Actually I don't need to know, however, IMV (the original poster) does have need of this information for one reason or another.
