Metrology: Inspection with Diamond Stylus

Metrology: Inspection with Diamond Stylus

Metrology: Inspection with Diamond Stylus

(OP)
My inspection department has asked me for definitions of various terms relating to inspecting surface roughness on parts using a diamond stylus and I am wondering if you can point me to a resource for these definitions:

If the question refers to profile/roughness filters the available types are:

Section profile curve
roughness curve
filtered waviness curve
filtered center line waviness curve
rolling circle waviness curve
rolling circle center line waviness curve
DIN4776 special curve
roughness motif curve
waviness motif curve
envelope waviness curve

If the question refers to geometry filters, the available types are:

Linear correction
round surface correction
first half correction
latter half correction
both end correction
spline curve correction (linear, round surface and both end correction possible at arbitrary range)

Thank you.
