Fixed Duration Tasks Slifing Towards Completion Date

Fixed Duration Tasks Slifing Towards Completion Date

(OP)
Is there a way to create fixed duration tasks, or view tasks in a manner that shows me the situation as it would look if the task started today (or on a status date set for today)?

Background:

I have 5 Engineering Orders to release for every aircraft.

They are standardization EOs.

Each aircraft is setup as an individual project with a definite finish date, 90 days before it comes into the hangar for work.

I schedule each aircraft a small 5 task project, from the finish (completion) date.

It doesn’t make sense to lay in fixed start and stop dates for any EO (tasks).

The situation is too fluid.

Each of the 5 EOs have different fixed durations.

One engineering order defines the work on multiple aircraft (based on configuration similarities in that system).

I don't track progress on any EO, It's either released (completed) or it's not.

The EOs don’t need to be released in any particular order.

All of the aircraft projects are imported into a master project for the fleet.

I use the master project to mark completions as each EO is released.

I also use it to see what EO durations are too close to what deadline on which aircraft to determine what needs to be worked next.

I'm managing as many as 20 aircraft projects in a fleet.

At any time, I may have to go in individual aircraft projects and change the completion date (or hangar date) as capacity changes around the system.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
