Design Change Process
Design Change Process
(OP)
Hello All
I am currently working in an up and coming start-up comapany. We design and manufacture our own product for sale to consumer and industrial/comercial markets. We have yet to develop a significant amount of process and procedure. We are continually receiving suggestions from internal and external sources to help improve our prodcut. I feel that we are in need of some sort of procedure from idea through approval to project managment to implementation. Does anyone have some advice on this or can lead me to a source for advice.
I may have chosen the wrong forum for this question if anyone has some suggestions as to a different forum please let me know.
Thanks Much

RE: Design Change Process
Have you had exposure to engineering change order systems before? If so, you may be able to transform a previously familiar system to meet current needs.
The various systems I have worked with all have several commonalities.
1. Identify what drawing(s), procedure(s), requirement(s) are changing.
2. Identify what the change "IS" while maintaining a history of what "WAS"
3. Identify why the change is required.
4. Determine the disposition of affected components, assemblies etc if appropriate.
5. Provide approval locations for appropriate review and sign-off.
Regards,
