G'day all. I've got a bit of a problem with excel and numbers. When I enter a number without a decimal Excel automatically divides it by ten.

eg: enter: 15
displays as and calculates as: 1.5

but if I enter: 15.0
it displays as and calculates as: 15

Anyone got any suggestions as to how it can be fixed as I can't seem to find the solution.

thanks

Go to "TOOLS/OPTIONS"

Select the tab "Edit" and uncheck "fixed decimal" (i bet its checked and "places" set to 1.

I think its helpfull when you are an accountant but im not sure

MortenA hit the nail on the head! I have used it a great deal while I was entering numbers that had a fixed amount of digits and a fixed decimal point. This works out great if you are manually entering data.

Thanks folks, I knew it was something simple, I just couldn't see it for looking.

Thanks
