I need a good book on wind engineering on stuctures. Any body have a good title and author. With all the hurricane damage, I keep getting ask this subject.

RE: wind engineering

For residential or commercial type structures?

Here's a book I've seen around a lot:

Wind Load Guide

RE: wind engineering

You will also need ASCE 7-02 to go along with it.  The Wind Load Guide supplement that JAE mentions has a many different examples that walk you through each and referenceds the sections from ASCE 7-02.  ASCE 7-06 is out now for purchase.

RE: wind engineering

Two texts:

Wind Loading of Structures, John D. Holmes, 2001 Spon PRess, ISBN No. 0-419-24610-X.  More practical than the one below.

Wind Effects on Structures Fundamentals and Applications to Design, 3rd edition;  Emil Simiu & Robert H. Scanlan, John Wiley & Sons, 1996.  ISBN No. 0-471-12157-6.  Very theorteical.

Redfish, that is ASCE 7-05.

RE: wind engineering

Be sure to check out the free resources available on the web, such as:

"American Association for Wind Engineering"
In particular see topics "Newsletters", "Wind Engr. Info" and "Links"

"ICC Standard For Hurricane Resistant Construction" (SSTD 10-99)

"Blue Sky Residential High Wind Construction Manual"
(The website seems to be down right now, but it was working this morning)

You can even get some out-of-print information from my website (link below)
"How To Design Barns To Withstand Wind Loads"
