PWHT according to AWS D1.1

PWHT according to AWS D1.1

Dear All,

When looking in the AWS D1.1 (contractual standard) I don't find any direct requirement to perform or not a PWHT of full penetration butt weld of carbon steel plates thickness 50mm up to 105mm.

Can some body help me in order to decide if it is required or not to perform a PWHT for such a welds?

Thanks in advance.

RE: PWHT according to AWS D1.1

It is up to the designer or contractor to deside if PWHT is required. With the thickness you mention I would say it is adviced to do a PWHT.
