The short answer is yes...but like most engineering answers, the proper answer is "it depends". If the Inconel you are referring to is a solid-solution strengthened alloy (e.g. 600, 625) welding to an austenitic stainless steel like 304 is quite easy. If the Inconel is a precipitation-hardenable alloy (e.g. 702, 750, etc.) however, the process becomes much more involved, requiring preheating and a postweld heat treatment to avoid strain age cracking.
