i would like to know the kind of foundations that were used in the building of the world trade center

Spread footings on rock. The perimeter wall was constructed by the slurry method [I believe this was the first use in NYC. The slurry wall was tied back, however, after the basement slabs were constructed the tierods were de-tensioned. The slabs provided the lateral resistance.
