In case a chiller is installed in such a way that the chilled water inlet and outlet pipes wrongly, for example, CHW(7 degC) pipe connect to chiller's water inlet nozzle and CHW(12 degC) pipe connect to chiller's water outlet nozzle.

What will happen if they run this chiller in this condition? Will there be a tremendous drop in performance/capacity? Or something else?

You will have decreased capacity and there will be fair chances of liquid entering into the compressor.

I presume you are changing the evaporator configuration from counter flow to parallel flow.

Regards,
