Machinery's Handbook (25th) has tables of clearances for wrench openings up to 1-5/8". Can anyone direct me to info on wrench clearances for larger sizes?

I've never seen an charts which go larger than that. As was recommended on E-Tips in another thread years ago, at some point you're going to just have to draw it out for yourself to see what it's going to be.

Realistically, why would you need larger clearances for wrench sizes larger than 1-5/8? (Use the guidelines from the DIN standard for 80 mm, nominal 3+ inch, if you must.)

But, since those clearances are good for wrench sizes up to 1-5/8, and the difficulties of fabricating a "wrench-turnable" part bigger than 1-5/8 are no harder, just the 1-5/8 tolerances.

Looking at the problem the other way, do you need to design a space to "attach" and "turn" a wrench for a 2-1/2 nut? If so, get the wrench you will use, and measure the length and max diameter of the wrench head. Using a socket wrench or impact wrench to turn the part? Do the same thing - but check your design to make sure there is room to attach and remove and operate the impact wrench and its adapter.
