Hello All,
I have a propeller blade that needs some welding.
It is type SS 2324, ASTM AISI 329, UNS S 329 50 Duplex Stainless Steel.
The factory that makes these blades has general instructions to weld the material and specifies an electrode but I need a real WPS to satisfy Lloyds surveyor. I have AWS D1.6:1999 but both the material and the electrode
are not prequalified. I also do not have any more of the material to qualify a procedure to. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

It sounds like you need some more material. I've not used AWS D1.6, but in ASME section IX, you can cross qualify using any material from the same P No. Try finding the most readily available material that cross qualifies your material if you can't find the same material in a reasonable time/cost.

Thanks for the tip GRoberts, I have section IX.
All the best.
