Hi,
I am trying to design a worm gear set to have a torque rating of around 200ft-lbs. I was looking at a 360:1 ratio. The gear needs to be 10-12" in diameter. Since weight is an issue, Aluminum is prefered. Is this a feasible design? I was looking at double enveloping worm gears, but don't really know how to design it.

Thanks

My answer is that some worm gear manufacturing companies
would like to design it for you, if you give the
specifications, such as input torque/output torque,
ratio et. al. They will come up with the detailed
dimensions et. al.
