Hello,

I have been struggling to determine the required torque of a motor in a worm gear drive. I have calculated the tangential force that the worm gear applies to the worm, but cannot determine the required torque the motor will require to turn the worm. All searching on the web has included an element of power (torque over speed), but I am simply trying to understand what the torque would be without any speed. It is easy in a spur to spur application, because they are on the same axis, but in a worm the two torques are at 90 degrees.

Any help is appreciated!
