Workgroups, Outlook tasks & email

I have followed the instructions with regard to the WGsetup.exe, and the setup of the workgroup communition method in my project file, and setup email addresses for some test resources (so far only testing myself). I have been able to send the messages from MS Project but do not always receive a notification in my inbox, although the MS Project tasks seem to show up in my Outlook task list and in my Outlook sent items folder. Has anyone used this feature? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
