Any suggestions on wood shearwall software? I don't care for Woodworks. I like the Daniel Li spreadsheets, but his software seemed to lock me out and I can't get it fixed. Any suggestions? How about Enercalc?

RISA 3D has wood shear walls. I haven't spent a lot of time with it, but I intend to.

Why don't you like Woodworks?

RISA 3D is the only software package I have used to analyze shear walls. The modelling does take some time to account for all the openings, however the real benefit in RISA is modelling all the shear walls with the diaphragm and the associated load distribution - you'll almost always have some contribution from the wall segments orthogonal to the primary shear walls and you'll see the difference in edge nailing/hold down requirements etc. You can also quickly alternate between the three analysis methods.

RISA does have some bugs with the shear wall design, the issues I have come across are related to perforated shear walls which they have acknowledged. Since this option in RISA is still fairly new, one must keep their wits about them.

I have used Enercalc for many years. The wood shear wall module is OK. Not perfect. It will only correctly analyze segmented wood shear walls. It does allow for openings in the shear wall but incorrectly analyzes perforated shear walls. It wall also not do FTAO
Simpson has a web based wood shear wall tool on their website.

For single story shear walls I just use the book and check by hand, that's the easiest way IMO.

For multiple story shear walls I use Enercalc and it's pretty decent.

I bought Strucalc/ Vitruvius for designing segmental walls, but all of their wall modules stink so I just started doing them by hand as well.
