We have a pilot scale waste to energy plant that produces a syn gas to run a gas engine to generate electricity. We wish to measure the calorific value of the syn gas before it enters the gas engine. The syn gas nominal pressure is 150 - 200 mBar. Can anyone recommend a suitable analyser for this application.

Thank you.

COSA is among the selections for BTU or Wobbe Index. They actually package a German product. The online gas chromatograph manufacturers can provide BTU data too.

The online GC will do a BTU/CF and a specific gravity and then the math to get WOBBIE number.

Daniels is the most widely used in Natural Gas service.

Others include: Agilent, ABB Totalflow

If you only need the analyser for the wobbie then,
You could consider Hobre Instruments wobbie index analyser.

Daniel GC will give you more that wobbie index but more expensive.

So depend on what you want.

Regards

Lazare
