Hi all,
There was a 'wish list' thread on the SolidWorks forum recently so I thought I'd start one here.

To kick off -

1. The ability to produce seperate solid bodies in one file and then use boolean operations.
This is useful for things like castings, where you can create an external solid, then the internal 'cores' and subract them.

2. Ability to re-order more than one part at a time in assembly, or more than one feature at a time in part.

How about default settings for "Add Break Lines"?

I design agricultural equipment. My assemblies can be up to 6000 parts sometimes. It will be a big timesaver if I can make "dynamic edits" to parts directly from the assembly environment without having to open the part.

Right click on any part or asm, or part in an asm and have an option to open the draft linked to that chosen part/asm.

Be able to create family of parts W/O without having to create or "populate" a physical member, which seems to be just a part copy or a "dumb solid". Why can all the info reside within the one part and be able to chosen from the open dialog of the part which config of that part you'd like to see. It seem the way it is storage space for these exra files can be a problem. I don’t know... just my thoughts.

In the draft Edgebar, have access to the Asm Pathfinder or Feature Pathfinder tab. If tabs can be added I sure cant find it.

Im new to SE so I'm sure my wish list will get longer over time

Toffeet,
I can see an advantage here of being able to RMB and then temprarirly 'Show Features in Pathfinder' but I would not like to see all the features listed as SolidWorks does.
I was recently using SolidWorks and that drove me mad, seeing every plane,sketch and feature of every part in the assembly - not something you want in assemblies with thousands of parts.
By the way, do you use the peer variables feature ?
That can sometimes help with in reducing the number of times you 'open' or 'edit' parts when in your assembly.

Again I can see the advantages of not having to create seperate files for each of a family of parts, but it does have the advantage of keeping each part file small.
SolidWorks has part configurations which all live in the same part file, similarly to what you are asking for, and I would like to see the same thing built in to SolidEdge.
However, file sizes do grow every time you add a configuration. For example, at my last employer, a simple hexagon head screw file size was 480kB, because it had many different configurations for the screw lengths.
It was a similar story for other bits of hardware.
That's the best part of half a megabyte every time you insert a screw into your assembly.

Tools > Where Used is the feature I believe you are looking for. You can add this into your toolbar.

Would be nice to have an assembly level stretch command. Sure you could set peer variables to accomplish this but a command to drag across parts would be much more direct.

I think It would be nice to be able to change the displays configurations of more than one view at a time.

In Draft : being able to make a part sectioned/unsectioned by selecting the edges in the view rather than having to go through the view properties dialog.

In sketcher mode: When drawing lines, arcs, etc. have a button on smart step tab to enter control points relative to other points. A "From" entry mode in either x,y or polar.

In sketcher mode: A magnet snapping feature. When you approach a snap point the cursor locks onto it. There should be a sensitivity setting also. Sometimes when I'm drawing I move off the intended position before I click.

Activate the Grid in the sketcher if you want to key in x,y or polar coordinates. You can also snap to the grid.

For snapping to endpoints, arc centers, etc... go to Tools-IntelliSketch and check what items you want to snap to. Also under Tool-Intellisketch is the Cursor tab that allows you to change the Locate zone and Intent zone for your cursor.
