Hi all,
Working on the contractor’s side and we’ll be doing some cut and fill works during the upcoming winter months. We’ll need to prepare a procedure to present to the client and consultant prior to starting and I’m seeking some assistance with brainstorming ideas of what to include and consider for people with expertise or experience in these conditions. Note: We’ll only be cutting max 450mm and backfilling for base of railroad tracks.
Any tips on beginning of work insitu assessments (inspection of frozen soils?), preparation of ground prior to excavation (heat needed?, tarps?), what to do if we can’t reach specified compaction density? (Can proof roll be used as verification instead?).
Thanks in advance!
