The Engineer has requested that we perform a safety test on our window design of 25% over the design load. There are several issues of concern:
the test is uncommon locally, though testing to the design load is common.
the supplier is quite uncertain about success
our design load is 6.9kPa so 25% over is nearly 1 ton per sq metre.
What are the members experiences in window performance tests. The Engineer has told me that if I can show that the specification is unreasonable by international standards he may review the request.
