In the section for wind loads 4.17, the code has a variable Cp, but this value does not appear to be specified in this section. Please help.

You'll need the structural commentaries that accompany the NBCC

So they put all the values for the wind load in the code but one? That's lame.

There's actually a bunch of parts of wind code stuff that you need the commentaries for, which I agree is dumb.

Without it, you don't know about things like gust amplifaction due to slopes and fun things like that.

Same applies for snow load. The main chunk of the code will let you calculate snow load for a standalone flat roof, you need the commentaries to determine build-up, sliding and valley loading.

It is rather dumb in one way. But in an entirely other way it's much nicer. I've memorized the values from the main chunk of the code that are generally applicable to my work. So I really only need the smaller commentaries during the work day. It's a significantly smaller book.
