Wildfire 3.0 to proe 2000/2001

Hi all,


I work with ProeWildfire 3.0.


How must I saved my drawings so that my collage's who works with proe 2000/2001 can open my drawings.


I hope you will inform me how to do.

Pro/E does not support opening newer version files in older versions of the software.


For models, your best option is to use STEP.


For drawings, your best option is to use DXF.


The model will not be parametric in the older version.


The model will NOT be associative to the drawing in the older version.

Does the other CAD companies do this? Or is PTC the only ones? I am sure the only reason for this is to get everyone to run out and buy the latest version.

not completly, the newer files were built with enhanced functionality that the older program doesn't understand. You get some of the same issues with less severity with microsoft products.

Not directly. You can export a step file from WF3.0 and then import it into 2001. Same with a drawing as a DXF but like mentioned above you lose the association between the part model and drawing.

I think the ProE neutral format will giva a better result for the 3D model, non parametric though.

James, It means that you can still create 2d drawings from 3d models (once themodel is in 2001 )... But if you had a drawing ascotiated with the 3d model beforehand, once imported into 2001 the ascotiativity would be lost.
