Hi

Why taper bored flanges are recommended on catalyst lines. UOP is our process licensor and process is Pacol. UOP has recommended taper bored flange on the connection of catalyst transfer pipe line to catalyst storage vessel which is termed as Lock hopper in this process

Can anybody technically clarify why these flanges are recommended

Talk to your licensor- but if it's a solid catalyst, do you really need to ask why you need to avoid sudden transitions in diameter?

Hi
The catalyst used is a solid catalyst. There is no change in diameter. Inlet and outlet flange is of 6" diameter.

Hi

Can anybody provide feedback on the above query?

Just Ask UOP, could be a typo from an old project. They will answer your questions.
