I am a bit confused by the question. Are you asking if people pirate the software? Or are you asking how people are able to use it without individually purchasing it? If it is the latter, I can say that there are many licenses available to research and commercial institutions that do not require an individual to purchase a license.

I am looking to buy a new FEA product, and I was wondering why people like Ansys. Price is no issue, just a matter of why Ansys.
