Hi all,

I'm new to this Composites topic. When it comes to Analysis point of view(FEA) which is good/better approach for justifying strength of a Laminate( made of Unidirectional fibers)

-->checking for ply stress or ply Strains
or
-->Checking for overall Laminate Stress or laminate Strain

Laminate strain.

All of the text book failure criteria using ply stresses or strains don’t accurately predict laminate strength for multidirectional layups.

See my previous posts in the Composite Engineering forum.
