Where to publish a device prototype for application testing

I have built a prototype at work as a miniature and customizable version of a real world product for application test and I am being asked to write a paper and publish. Any idea what research journals focus on physical prototypes for product application testing? When I search prototype I get software papers or Machine learning simulations.. Any advice would be great.

The magazines Design World, Design News, used to have a "new stuff" page with a picture and a writeup. Don't know if they still do.

Your paper probably won’t fly, except as a paper airplane, unless you give some more meaningful info than you have here, in your OP. I wouldn’t publish on a prototype nuclear reactor in the same place, or to the same group, as I might publish on a heart valve or pacemaker. But, then, you haven’t given us a clue.

There are often industry research organizations; look up whatever the area it applies to. Society of Automotive Engineers and American Society of Mechanical Engineers, for example.

Thanks for the feedback! I can't be too specific but my manager wants this.. I told him a magazine article would be better but he wants paper so.. Essentially its a device that scientists use to assess their chemistries. The device closely resembles one that the end user would use their chemistries with but has customizable parameters and is smaller scale. I think the "Mechanism and Machine Theory" journal might work so if anyone knows something like that one. And ill keep looking.

Why can't you be too specific about something that you want to publish?

what trade magazines or society journals do you (or your boss) read ?

what conferences would you attend, where this product might be relevant.

if this is such a good idea, patent it first !

For something related to assessing chemistry, search on TECHNICAL JOURNALS (not academic) related to the correct field of chemistry, the testing and measurement of chemicals, and the chemical production processes. If the prototype is not completely new, but maybe is a miniature version of an existing device/method, include "miniature" or "small batch" in your search string. Also be aware that not all publishers are created equal: there are a LOT of pay-to-play journals and transactions out there with no real academic or technical standing. Maybe do a search on what's available in terms of the technical conferences associated with your industry (for example: Petroleum and Chemical Industry, Pulp Paper and Forest Industries, Portland Cement Association, Association of Iron and Steel Technologies, etc.).

Engineering.com, The main site of the owners of Eng-Tips publishes a lot of content.

Much of it appears to not have undergone any serious peer review, as would be needed to publish in an academic or industry journal. This may be a useful advantage for you.
