P.S. nowhere does he mention AWS.

this is for structural 2X4X11ga, SA-500 GR B where e70XX is currently used

If he wants it, make him pay extra since it's not in the contract.

the only time i have seen a request for weld calcs is when you qualify a new weld procedure.

am i missing something.

What does the above statement mean? Is the customer asking for calcs after the bid specification was released for quotation or is it in the bid spec and someone failed to read it? I can't tell you how many times I have reviewed bid specification before they go out and vendors fail to read the fine print.

the customer engineer verbally asked for them during the vendor's review of the bid spec. he said it was in one of the Codes in their bid spec. i could not find anything in the referenced Codes.

it is a moot point now though, the vendor just had his engineer run the calcs.

Well, if you haven't done the weld calc's yourself, somebody has to do them.

How are you going to build/sell/test/install the thing if you can't prove (to somebody!) what size and configuration and number of welds are needed to hold the thing together?
