Power Train Systems Engineering, at one company. Guessing you know what the powertrain is, do some research on systems engineering.

Roughly speaking they'll control the interfaces between subsystems and the requirements each subsystem places on each other subsystem, and the overall system performance. They may be responsible for cascading the system level requirements down to subsystems.

Basically it's a formalised system to replace communication and common-sense.

As somebody once said " The XYZ car company has many procedures created by clever people so that stupid people can design cars"
