what type of fiber do I have

I have some fiber optic cable that runs from a fiber modem acros the building ( about 200 feet )to a machine with another fiber modem. I need to find out if it is multimode or single mode so I can reterminate it for a new modem with ST conectors. The writing on the cabel says (( Belden 550947(227302) fiberoptic cable Breakout cable 2-50\125um FDDI Grade (UL) type OFNR c(UL) 10\99 01011 meters)). If anyone can help me out I would sure appreciate it.

The initial 2 means that this is a single pair cable.

The 50/125um bit means that this is multimode fiber.

OFNR is the fire rating for this cable (which if I recall correctly suggests this is riser-rated but not suitable for bare use in a plenum.)

The UL bits refer to the certification from Unerwriters Laboratories.

10/99 means it was made in October of 1999.

01011 is just a cable distance marking, which will change every meter on the cable.

At a caveat, some multimode fober uses 62.5 um diameter cores rather than the 50um stuff you have, so be careful when you are spec'ing your ST connectors.
