What solvent is used in silicone oil?

Now and then I hear about solvents in silicone oil, (for example the kinds used to make car tires black and shiny) and the possible problems when they interact with the rubber. Does anyone know what these solvents are? I wouldn't expect the silicone oil to have much solvent action of its own.

I hope this helps, use cyclohexanone it is a good solvent in silicone applications. ,,,Good Luck

My apologies, I miss read the question,,,,,,,,,,,,I assumed perhaps a "clean-up". The solvent used is a siloxane complex, Dow and GE have condensation type reaction process' that enable the solute to become a concentrate, again for what its worth, I would simply suggest you contact GE and ask them,,they are quite helpful.

Thanks for the info. I'd never heard about cyclohexanone use w/silicone oils. That's surprising, I'll remember that.
