I recently found that if you have built a computer yourself, and it does not run on a pentium, but rather an athalon processor, or an asrock motherboard, do not use a dell power supply. Dell runs on at power supply not an atx. You are in danger of frying your motherboard if you do this. The plugs on the power supplies are exactly the same.

Caveat Emptor (Let the Buyer Beware).

I'm not a Dell basher, but I have noticed that when trying to install a Linux distro in them, sometimes they can be persnickity about some of their hardware inconpatabilities.

But, as the second link points out, they might be useful as a cheap bench supply. They, being the Dell power supplies.
