I am looking at buying a laptop and was wondering what graphics cards your notebooks have. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post.

You can also post on the discussion newsgroup "comp.cad.solidworks". This topic shows up there about once a month.

RobEng21,
Check out the Solidworks products forum, there is a current thread regarding this exact issue.

I run it off a Toshiba Satellite Pro, maximum RAM and top end video card. The video card has it's own separate RAM so it doesn't hog up onboard memory. The graphics are excellent.

You can use USB ported memory sticks to handshake off the files for ease of transport as well as keeping the hard drive free of massive FEA files.

Hope this helps.

I have experience with AMD CPU and INTEL, AMD runs better.

I'll secon Cockroach on the Toshiba. Nice machines. Runs better than my workstation.

Cockroach,

Could you elaborate on your choice of video in the Toshiba? Some Satellites come with Intel graphics cards, which aren't recommended on SW's website. Can we assume you replaced that?
