What is MIR stabilization in Ansys Flotran?

Hello,

What is MIR stabilization in Ansys Flotran? I have read about it in Ansys Help, and I know that it adds a positive value to the diagonal term to graduate a positive diagonal. If MIR is set to 0.1, what value is added to diagonal term: 0.1 or some other value dependent on this 0.1? How to decide what value should have MIR stabilization? What is the influence of MIR stabilization on analysis results?
