Double wound = two galvanically isolated windings.
Single wound = one winding, i.e. an autotransformer.

Thanks scotty,

Why normally this term is used for isolation transformer? Is there any constructional difference netween normal distribution transformer and isolation transformer?

Thanks in anticipation of replies

Hi Scotty.
Do you see this term mostly applied to CTs or is that just me.
Some classes of isolation transformers have a grounded screen between the primary winding and the secondary winding. This is a code requirement for some transformers used for isolation in medical environments. It is for added safety and does not affect the transformer action.
The screen prevents primary voltage transients from being capacitively coupled to the secondary winding.
In many power applications a normal power transformer may be used for isolation.
