I am trying to find out how clay valves work or if they have another name. Anyone have a good link with a picture of one?

unless you are back in Roman times where a clay valve was just that, a clay valve.....it is a company that manufacturers valves primarily for water service which is called Cla-Val. An internet search will turn them up for you in a snap.....
