Hello,

if we have for example a fire wall of 1 hour, according to NFPA 37, 4.1.2, "Engine rooms shall have interior walls of at least 1 hour fire rating…"

What fire rating do the seals (1 hour?) and the doors need and where is it stated in NFPA regulations?

We are located in El Salvador and the national law does not state anything regarding this topic.

Thanks in advance!

The NFPA Standards are free on NFPA.org

See NFPA 101 (2012 Edition), Table 8.3.4.2

This means 1 hour for walls and 3/4 for doors as shown in the table.

4.1.2.1.5* Openings from an engine room to other sections of the structure shall be provided with automatic or self-closing fire doors or dampers corresponding to the rating of the walls in which they are located.

I would say the door has to be a one hour door

I don't ever remember seeing one hour fire doors for such rooms but the more common ones were class B 1-1/2hr fire doors.
