Can anyone tell me what the symbol that's marked with a sphere around it in the feature manager design tree means in the picture.

God bless,

Phil.

It tells you that you used a section of the sketch to create that feature, instead of using the complete sketch.

During feature creation whenever you have sketch entities that cross over each other their is an option to pick contours within the bounded sketch. When you select contours to create the feature the feature sketch appears that way.

If you select the sketch in the graphic area of your screen, it's easy to invoke the contour selection without realizing it. I see my students do it all the time.

OK, so what you're saying is to pick the sketch from the feature manager design tree in future?

...depends on what you plan to do with the sketch.

prephil,

When you have a chance read up on "contour selection" in the SolidWorks Help. I think Help will give you a better understanding of the tool.

Edit the feature, scroll down to the Contour Sketch input window, and deselect the sketch there. Select the window at the very top, and reselect the sketch, and extrude, etc...
