What do you think "F.I." stands for? 2

This is an image from a Lord and Burnham Greenhouse circa 1938. My architect is asking me to interpret the abbreviation "F.I." Some of the greenhouses in the complex have cast iron members while other, newer ones, are steel. We're wondering if this is an archaic abbreviation for "Ferrous Iron" or in other words, steel? Thoughts? opinions?
 
Yes! that must be it! it is labeled as 1/2" x 4" so that would track! thanks!
