What are the limits of a Civil PE license in Washington State.

I am newly working in WA state. I am being told that you must be an SE to design any sort of building or retaining wall in this state.
Are there something more restrictions than might apply in California? Unfortunately the state site is not clear on this.

Recently, the state has required structural engineers to be involved in many more types of projects, and it depends on the jurisdiction. In Seattle, Civil Engineers can no longer do three story buildings for example. Remodels, seismic retrofits, and repairs are similar.

Again, check with the local jurisdiction.

I recently had Seattle require an SE for a TI, where we traditionally maintained a CE. They considered the stairs to be a 'major structural item'. The time to get reciprocity kinda threw a monkey wrench in things.

Part of me is glad that are starting to go this direction with the SE license. Most structural engineers could go an entire career and not actually design a building under the 'schools, hospitals, and buildings over 3 stories' requirement.
