Kind of a strange question, does anyone know what type of material auto manufacturers typically use to make the heating/ac vent slats?

Depending on the age of the car, and the position of the outlet re cabin temps when parked in the sun, and wether or not it is a head impact area, but ABS is sometimes used, but mostly it is now polycarbonate. ASA, polyester and nylon could also be considered. Some might even suggest PP

Would a UV resistant Derlin work in a similar application? Dupont says it's used for interior car parts.

It could work but it would have several prop[erties inferior to those currently used.

It is a bit down on HDT, and it is really quite poor to UV before stabilisation, and not as good as most of the above when all are stabilised.

It is very rigid and springy, but this is of doubtfull value for most vents.

It has good bearing properties, but is also nousy when rattled
